2018 is turning into a good year for Alfa Romeo fans, first we had news that this comings BTCC will see the return of the Alfa Romeo name with the Giulietta run by HMC Racing, (http://enzari.com/news/wraps-come-off-new-alfa-romeo-giulietta-btcc-car/ ) now it has been announced the Giulietta will also be racing in the World Touring Car Cup, as Romeo Ferraris announcedtheir entrance to the race series, with two of their self devloped Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR cars set to take the grid at Marrakech in April.
“We are delighted to announce the entry of our cars in the FIA WTCR,” said Operations Manager Michela Cerruti. “For our company, it is a big step forward, as after two seasons in the TCR International, we will enter a FIA-sanctioned world series, providing technical assistance to our cars.”
As of yet drivers of the two Italian car, which are being entered independently of the Romeo Ferraris, will be announced in due course.
“The proposition is certainly very interesting and we rely a lot on the WTCR promoters and organisers to deliver a winning package. The introduction of TCR cars will certainly raise the level of both the competition and the show on track, in a series that has always attracted huge numbers of spectators and viewers.”
The Alfa Romeo will join a variety of brands on the WTCR grid next year with Audi, SEAT and Honda also with confirmed entries.
