Abarth and Alfa Romeo have been consistently winning car awards around the world and now it’s the turn of Spain as these two Italian marques took home the top prize in their respective categories.
The Abarth 595/695 has been the winner of the Best Cars 2020 awards in the ‘City Cars’ category. This award, which has reached its 28th edition, is a market study in which consumers vote to choose the best in each category in a total of 11 segments. The Alfa Romeo Giulia has also been chosen in the category for ‘Best Medium Sedan’. A great success for the group.
Both cars have been awarded in this new edition of the Best Cars, in which nearly 10,000 readers in Spain participate, being one of the most relevant surveys in the entire European territory (in the last edition of 2020 there were over 142,000 participants in Europe).
On this occasion, the Abarth was once again one of the eleven winners of the Best Cars, thus continuing with the long list of trophies that, year after year, this model of the Scorpion brand receives. To collect the award for the Abarth 595 was present Alejandro Noriega, Brand Manager of Abarth Spain, who was proud to once again receive this recognition from the hand of Motorpress readers.
Alejandro Noriega, who runs the Fiat and Abarth brands in Spain, has assured that “it will be difficult for Abarth to lose the ‘transgressive’ spirit that characterizes it.” The Abarth 595 has revolutionized the concept of sports cars with manageable and powerful designs that guarantee high performance, staying small and rebellious like the scorpion. ” Referring to the evolution of the brand, he did not want to miss the opportunity to show that they are advancing with the examples of the different limited editions or the 2021 range. Of course, there was also the opportunity to highlight the launch of the first electric vehicle from Fiat , the New 500, “an icon that now offers the possibility of responding to current eco-sustainability needs”.
To receive the other award, given to the Alfa Romeo Giulia as ‘Best Average Sedan’, they had the presence of Paulo Carelli, Alfa Romeo Brand Manager. For Carelli “it is a pleasure to receive this recognition as its saloon of choice. Our brand has written emblematic pages in the evolution of the automobile worldwide, and it is now more than 110 years of history ”. Paulo Carelli assured that “the Alfa Romeo Giulia has managed to perfectly combine the unmatched performance, Italian design and customer needs, capturing consumer attention five years after its launch.” Looking ahead to 2021, he has anticipated that the Giulia GTA and the GTAm “will be the protagonists of the product portfolio and, without a doubt, they will monopolize many covers in the media.”
