Spanish Traffic Police ready to roll with Alfa Romeo Stelvio

The Spanish Civil Guard Traffic Group continues to bet on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Q4

Two years after incorporating the Alfa Romeo Stelvio model into its fleet of vehicles, the Spanish Civil Guard Traffic Group continues to bet on the maximum technological exponent of La meccanica delle emozioni as it expands its fleet of patrol vehicles with 18 new units. These are the Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.0 Petrol 200 CV Q4 Auto, and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.2 Diesel 190 CV Q4 Auto. Both engines, with latest generation 4-cylinder architecture, built in aluminum, associated with a modern 8-speed automatic gearbox, and which comply with the Euro 6 D Stage II emission regulations.

To safely cope with the provision of patrol service in harsh winter conditions, the Stelvio is equipped with the Q4 traction system, which includes an active transfer case and a front differential designed to suit the specific technical requirements of Alfa Romeo, in order to to control high torque in very fast times with a particularly compact and lightweight configuration. The Q4 system continually monitors numerous parameters to ensure the best torque distribution between the two axles based on how the vehicle is used and the available road grip. The perfect complement to the Q4 drive system is the AlfaTM DNA drive mode selector.

Always thinking about driving on slippery surfaces, the “Advanced Efficiency” program intervenes on the engine torque curve, the braking system through the Pre-Fill device, the gearshift logics, the throttle response, the ESC stability control and ASR traction control, to ensure maximum traction capacity. An important contribution to safety in the provision of the entrusted service is constituted by the lighting system with AFS adaptive Bi-Xenon Headlights.

The Stelvio has established itself as a major player in the prestige SUV class, taking on rivals from BMW, Mercedes and Audi, providing a fine-handling SUV with film star looks in what was becoming a rather stale and crowded market place. It continues to receive both praise and awards in it’s sector, proving you can have sexy and SUV in one package and maybe, just maybe an SUV poster boy at last!
