British GT – Ferrari competitive at Snetterton
The penultimate round of the British GT Championship, held at Snetterton over the weekend, ended with a fifth and a sixth place in the Pro Am class for the 488 GT3 Evo 2020 of AF Corse UK. In both cases the races took place on a wet track and not without interventions by the Safety Car.
Race 1 . After securing a start from the second row, Duncan Cameron was following the Safety Car ahead of the pack due to the difficult conditions on the track. The English driver, in eighth overall position, made the stop during the ninth lap, giving the car to his teammate Matt Griffin who drove the 488 GT3 Evo 2020 for the next 37 minutes. The Irishman managed to sign the fastest lap of his race during passage number 25, in 2’09 ”796, finishing in sixth position in the class, twelfth overall.
Race 2 . Even on Sunday the rain was the protagonist. As happened in Race 1, on the 2.9 miles of the Snetterton 300 the rainstorm significantly reduced grip, putting drivers and vehicles in difficulty over the sixty minutes provided. The start was starring Matt Griffin, who started from the fourth row even if the Irish driver slipped in the standings up to eleventh place. Also taking advantage of the start of the stops, the 488 GT3 Evo 2020 climbed up in the top ten before returning to the pits during the thirteenth lap when Cameron got behind the wheel of the car. The second part of the race allowed the English driver to move close to the absolute top ten, finishing in fifth position among the Pro-Ams.
Appointments . The British GT Grand Final is scheduled for Silverstone on the weekend of 7-8 November.
