Scuderia Ferrari: Italian GP – ‘We Miss The Fans’

Grand Prix – Charles and Seb: “We miss the fans, we will do our best to make them smile”

Four days after the difficult Belgian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel arrived on the Monza track for the first of three Italian events of the season. The GP at the Autodromo Nazionale is usually the meeting point for Prancing Horse fans from all over the world, who meet in the stands of the circuit that rises on the outskirts of Milan in the hope of being able to invade the track at the end of the race to go to celebrate their favorites under the podium. In this closed-door racing season it will probably be here that their absence will be felt most. They thought of Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel as they sat in front of the media for the FIA press conference.

Lack.  “A year ago I experienced the greatest emotion of my life and it’s a shame not to be able to see the fans in the stands. Having said that, we know that this season we are not favorites: we come from a negative weekend in Belgium and we have no particular elements that lead us to expect a reversal of the values on the field here, since the characteristics of the track are quite similar – has said Charles -. I think we could go a little better than at Spa since we have some new details on the car, but it will probably be at Mugello that we will have a clearer idea of the values on the field to understand if third place among the manufacturers is a realistic goal. “.

Emotions. Sebastian also did not fail to address the Scuderia supporters: “Monza has always had a special place in my heart, because it is here that I took my first victory in 2008, in a Ferrari-powered car (the Scuderia Toro Rosso, ed). , and it is here that many times I have felt the embrace of the fans. It will be sad not to be able to count on them in the stands, especially since we are struggling this season. As far as we are concerned, we will do everything possible to maximize the performance of the car. We would like to give our supporters a smile, ”said the German. “Knowing that this is the last year with the team makes this race even more exciting. We may not be able to fight for the victory but it will still be important to be able to say that we have done everything to get the best result.

Determination.  Charles also looked to his future in the Scuderia: “I know we have to work, and I am ready to be patient because I know it will take time to get back to the positions that compete with us but I am also confident of being able to play a leading role. I know I can make my contribution to help speed up the road ahead, ”he said.

Program.  From Friday, in the meantime, teams get to the track: the two free practice sessions will start at 11 and 15 CET respectively. On Saturday, the last 60 minutes in preparation for qualifying at 3 pm will be staged at 12, while on Sunday 6 September the 71st Italian Grand Prix valid for the Formula 1 World Championship will start at 3.10 pm.
