GT Cup – One victory and two podiums for Ferrari at Donington
The third round of the GT Cup Championship was staged on the Donington circuit where the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo n. 61 of John Dhillon and Phil Quaife of the Scott Sport team collected one victory and two class podiums.
Podiums and a retreat . John Dhillon – Phil Quaife’s Ferrari, entered in the GT Cup class, participated in the four races scheduled for the third round of the GT Cup which took place last weekend at the Donington track.
In the first 25-minute Sprint test, the Ferrari no. 61, starting from sixth place overall, managed to gain a position, finishing second in class, fifth overall.
The second race on Saturday, 50 minutes long, was unlucky, with the withdrawal of the duo Dhillon – Quaife during the sixteenth lap.
In the Sprint test on Sunday the crew of Ferrari no. 61, after starting from the third row, with a consistent test, managed to recover some positions, also taking advantage of the exit of Jim and Glynn Geddie on Lamborghini Huracán, retired due to a problem with a wheel of their car. Dhillon – Quaife thus gained a second place in the GTC class, fourth overall, behind the winner James Webb in another Lamborghini.
Victory. The rematch for the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo n. 61 arrives in the Endurance race, the last of the weekend. John Dhillon engaged in the first stint, after a good start, came to occupy the leadership of the category, but due to a mistake, he had to give up a position after an exit from the track at the Old Hairpin corner while fighting with Seale in the Lamborghini Huracán . To take advantage of the situation, the winner of race 3, Webb, who thus took the lead. Webb resisted until Phil Quaife entered the track who recovered and managed to regain the lead of the race, clinching a class victory, also climbing on the absolute podium, thanks to third place in the overall order of arrival.
Next appointment. The fourth round of the GT Cup championship will be staged on 10 and 11 October at Brands Hatch.
