The iconic Ferrari F40 supercar we all had a poster of on our bedroom walls, is set to make a comeback. Well, at least for one lucky person. Expected to be announced in the next few days by Ferrari, their special projects devision has been commissioned to produce a one of a kind modern retelling of the 1980’s classic.
Ferrari do occasionally build custom one off projects for their more esteemed clients, two years ago they presented the SP3JC, based on the 812 to one lucky British client. This will be no different. Rumoured to be based around the F8 Tribute, and feature a more modern, rounded take of the F40, it is expected to incorporate some design features from Samir Sadikhov’s rendering he designed in 2018, which you can see in the images as we currently have none of the new build.
Incorporating many of the original designs, the low front nose, side vents and the rear dual light clusters. It will be instantly recognisable as an F40, but brought upto date to current designs. As it’s expected to be based on the F8, it could use the same 3.9ltr engine powering it upto 720bhp though the 7 speed automatic double clutch.
Hopefully we will get a first look soon, and maybe Ferrari will then see that this needs to go into full production.
