There are three crews at the start of the Abarth Rally Cup 2020 championship, a single-brand championship reserved for the Abarth 124 rally, which is divided into 5 prestigious races of the ERC European Championship.
The seasonal debut on the occasion of the Rome Capital Rally, scheduled for July 24-26, with three crews on the Abarth 124 rally at the start, two Italians and one Pole.
The most experienced is the Polish team made up of Dariusz Polonski and Lukasz Sitek, with the car of Team Rallytechnology. Just in the Rally of Rome last year they had conquered their first seasonal success with a first place both in the European ERC2 Championship and in the Abarth Rally Cup, to then conclude the 2019 edition of the single-brand championship in second place, contending until the last race the Italian title Andrea Nucita.
The Italians Roberto Gobbin make their debut in this series, with Winners Rally Team, winner of the R-GT category in the Italian Rally Cup last year, and the very young Andrea Mabellini, with the Napoca Rally Team, who grew up in the context of the Abarth Trophy on the track and ready to debut in an international rally championship, after having played a dozen Italian rallies with a car of category R5. With the Abarth 124 rally he obtained an excellent second place overall in the 2017 Monza Rally.
The Abarth Rally Cup 2020 is divided into 5 events: after the Rome Capital Rally, the Abarth 124 rally drivers will face the dirt roads of the Rally Liepāja, in Latvia (14-16 August) and the Azores Rally, scheduled from 17 to September 19. The last two events are held on asphalt: the Rally of Hungary (6-8 November) and Rally of the Canary Islands (26-28 November). The four best results will be taken into consideration for the final classification of the Abarth Rally Cup.
