Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Charles: “Nothing to lose in Abu Dhabi”
Thursday with the season’s press was a little different from the usual for the Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow. In fact, only Charles Leclerc met the media as Sebastian Vettel, who had just become a father again (Congratulations Seb & family!), was absent in what was more than justified in Yas Marina. The German driver will still be in the car regularly in the first free practice session scheduled for Friday at 13 local time (10 CET). The second session will be at 17 (14 CET).
Serenity. Charles was one of the protagonists of the FIA press conference opening the event and returned to the Brazilian Grand Prix incident to confirm once again that everything was clarified: “Together with Mattia with Seb we have clarified ourselves and by comparison come out calm and united. We know that what happened at Interlagos must no longer happen – the Monegasque said – although I must say that in this case there was also a good dose of bad luck because the contact was minimal and the consequences were enormous ”.
Nothing to lose. Leclerc has taken stock of his 2019 also talking about the goals that remain for the last race of the season: “I must say that, even if the start of the championship did not go the way we wanted, overall it was a wonderful first year for me with the Scuderia Ferrari. The victories of Spa-Francorchamps and Monza will remain forever in my memory and it will be nice to try to give my best until the last corner of the last lap. I know that for the third place it is very hard – the Monegasque admitted – but I have nothing to lose and I will leave no stone unturned ”.
Track walk. As night falls on Yas Marina for Charles the time has come to carry out the traditional reconnaissance at the foot of the track. The driver was, as always, in the company of his engineers for what is now also a sort of ritual, a way to begin to descend into the atmosphere of the race and concentrate for the last sprint of the 2019 championship.
