Low-Mileage F40 Takes Top ‘EFG Concours’ Honours At The Ferrari Owners’ Club Summer Garden Party

Over six hours of intensive judging of 11 Concours classes by a panel of Ferrari experts saw an as-new, 1,650-mile, ex-Maranello Concessionaires-supplied F40 take the prestigious EFG Concours ‘Car of the Day’ trophy at the annual Ferrari Owners’ Club’s Summer Garden Party on 3rd August.

Held for the third time at the scenic and tranquil Thames-side surroundings of Danesfield House, near Marlow in Buckinghamshire, around 200 Ferraris – old and new – attended the Ferrari Owners’ Club’s (FOC) Summer Garden Party, held in conjunction with the EFG Concours.

Perfect weather conditions greeted the FOC members and guests in attendance, who were treated to live music and an interesting array of exhibitors, as well as a bar, free gelato (very welcome given the muggy conditions), plus naturally, the real stars of the day, with around 200+ Ferraris on hand for all to admire.

Split over three immaculately-kept grass tiers, the Ferraris entered into the 11 EFG Concours classes ranged from an immaculate 1961 250 GTE, through to a 2018 488 Spider, with other noteworthy Concours entries including a mouth-watering 1967 330 GTC, a scare 1968 365 GT 2+2, a brace of Dino 246 GTs and their 308 GT4 and GTS successors, plus a 1990 Testarossa and a rare two-tone 612 Sessanto from 2007.

Away from the neatly presented EFG Concours displays, a number of F355s helped to mark this mid-engined Ferrari’s silver anniversary since the model made its 1994 debut; a transitional two-seater using the last of Maranello’s hand-made V8 engines. The F355s were joined by a number of Ferrari’s other ‘entry’ V6 and V8 mid-engined models, from Dino 246 GTs, 348s, Mondials, 360 Modenas, F430s and 458 Italias.

Larger 12-cylinder mid-engined Ferraris were also out on force, with some stunning 365 and 512 Berlinetta Boxer and later Testrarossa-F512 M models in attendance. Ferrari’s classic front-engine GTs were not forgotten either, with a mouth-watering selection of 275 GTCs, 330 GTCs, 365 Daytonas and a GTC/4, 400s and a rare manual 412i, 550 Maranellos, 599 GTB Fioranos, F12s and new 812 Superfasts on hand to savour, as well as a special display of five F40s in a row.

After the EFG Concours awards presentation, the annual FOC Summer Garden Party closed with a relaxed Italian buffet, served to the accompaniment of more live music and enthusiastic dancing.
