The Pagani Huayra BC Roadster is Just Around the Corner

Pagani are making no secret that the new, hardcore Huayra is just around the corner. On Friday, the brand teased their Facebook followers with a photo of the car under a cover; with the headlights on. The post was captioned “A tremendous science and design challenge.”

The Huayra BC Roadster has been on the way for over a year or so now. It was seen during testing all the way back in April last year on public Italian roads. The car was heavily camouflaged in order to hide some features of the BC. Fast forward to last Friday and Pagani seem to be suggesting that the launch of the car isn’t far off. However, their social media post gave extremely little away as to what the car will be like.

What we do know however is that the Huayra BC Roadster is going to be an incredible car. The standard Huayra Roadster is the first car to be lighter than its hardtop cousin. Something that was quite incredible, considering the masses of extra strengthening that the roadster required due to the lack of a roof. This incredible loss of weight from standard Huayra to Roadster is incredible. However, the Huayra BC hardtop is even lighter than the Huayra Roadster. This suggests that the Huayra BC Roadster could be the lightest Huayra ever. It isn’t as if the Huayra BC was heavy to start with, weighing in at 1.1 tonnes. Engine wise, I expect it to be business as usual. It should be the same twin-turbo Mercedes V12 as used in the Huayra BC; producing 745 hp and 811 pound feet of torque.

The body should mostly keep the extreme looks that we saw on the Huayra BC. We also expect the body to be made out of the same carbon-triax material that we saw on the hardtop BC. Pagani say that the material is 50% lighter than carbon fibre and also 20% stronger. That is quite the claim, however I think that the weight reduction from the Huayra to the Huayra BC shows how important this material is to the way the BC feels.

As you probably have worked out, all of this brilliance doesn’t come cheaply. The BC Roadster will cost around $2.5 million (£2.05 million.) However, if you did buy one of these, you would be able to think that there were only 99 more of these in existence worldwide. Pagani is expected to unveil the Huayra BC Roadster at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, it promises to be quite the unique car. It has stupendously good looks and speed to match too. Pagani are making some of the best poster cars around at the moment.
