It is without doubt an iconic Supercar legend, the De Tomaso Pantera is, was, one of the cars of the 70’s, De Tomaso’s most famous car, it’s wedge shaped stunning looks captured the mood of the era and the hearts of petrolheads around the world.
Not it seem’s 60 years after the brand’s founding by Alejandro de Tomaso the DeTomaso is set for a revival, under the code name ‘Project P’ the company will debut the new car at next week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and we can expect this modern incarnation to have a new name, although it hasn’t been confirmed whether it will be Pantera.
De Tomaso’s rebirth is being run by TeamVenture, a Hong Kong-based company with a real passion for cars, having previously took control of German supercar marque Gumpert. “Alejandro’s journey was never properly told and we feel his name should be commonly recognized amongst greats such as Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio Lamborghini,” De Tomaso General Manager Ryan Berris said in a statement. “When the new car debuts this summer, not only will another special vehicle be added to the brand’s heritage, but the story will finally be told.”
The ‘Project P’ or Pantera, or whatever it will be named has been teased ahead of the unveiling in a week’s time with the company putting out an official teaser image. Granted the teaser doesn’t show us much, it does reference the 60 years since Alejandro de Tomaso founded DeTomaso with the number 60 in the companies teaser.
So no, we are none the wiser however we are now left even more excited to see what will be unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed on the 4th July.
