Couple from Suffolk on a mission to drive restored Ferrari 308 GTB to Greece for charities
In 1987 at the age of 38 the NHS saved Chris’s life after a heart attack and he vowed to help by fundraising for the British Heart Foundation at some time in the future. More recently a close friend of theirs living in Greece and old school friend of Chris’s has been diagnosed with Parkinsons.
Over the past 22 months, Chris and Ros Withers of Walsham le Willows have been fundraising for the British Heart Foundation and Parkinsons UK, aiming to collect £20,000 for the charities whilst restoring a 40 year old Ferrari and intend to drive it to Greece. The idea of a fund-raising road trip between the UK and Greece emerged when a few years ago, Chris bought the old Ferrari 308 GTB in need of much love and attention and it has now been completely rebuilt it to the point where on 5th July they are setting off across Europe to Greece, for the ten day journey from their Walsham-le-Willows home to Karystos.
The Greek town on Euboea island is home to their friend Roger Borrell, who has Parkinson’s disease. Prior to their departure, Chris & Ros are inviting people to the Blue Boar public house, Walsham le Willows on July 5th between 10 and 12 pm to hear about their fundraising efforts for British Heart Foundation and Parkinsons and the stories behind them. Joe and Ruth at the Blue Boar have kindly agreed to let them display the car so that you can see it, take photos and wave them off on their travels.
The couple are hoping that through their efforts, people will be inspired to donate, furthering research into heart related diseases and
or to Parkinsons at
Give the couple YOUR support and please donate to this very worthwhile cause – Good Luck to Chris & Ros
