Alfa Romeo is the main sponsor of the “Mitteleuropean Race 2019”
This weekend has seen the fourth edition of the regularity competition kick off in Trieste with Alfa Romeo actively supporting the event leading the way with the impressive Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
From Friday to Sunday June 2, in Trieste, the Alfa Romeo brand is the protagonist of the fourth edition of the “Mitteleuropean Race”, the classic regularity competition for historic cars built until 1971, and has welcomed the public and enthusiasts at the Alfa Romeo stand in piazza della Bag. Among the great innovations of this edition, the transition between archaeological areas and medieval villages. The three-day competition opened in the splendid scenery of the Grado Lagoon at the Golf Club, with technical-sporting checks and the small novelty of the regularity race on the electric Golf Cart on the green, followed by a dinner party on the sea.
On Saturday the cars departed from Trieste and covered the ascent of the Trieste-Opicina, also called the “uphill Monza”, scene of epic disputes from 1911 to 1971. Famous pilots of every era who have ventured along this route, from Tazio Nuvolari, who signed historic companies on board Alfa Romeo cars – such as the success at the Nürburgring in 1935 – up to Andrea de Adamich, whose career has often intertwined with the Biscione models, from the Giulia GTA to the Type 33.
The route continues to border into Slovenia and then crosses the Collio hills and its vineyards. Before returning to Trieste, Laguna di Grado, Aquileia and Palmanova. The second day of competition will start again from Trieste, pass by the Castello di Spessa and the Abbey of Rosazzo and then descend again to the sea and end at the Grado Golf Club where the awards will take place.
Also this year the Mitrace Cup returns, a trophy reserved for the Alfa Romeo 4C, 8C and Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio. During the festival, the public will be able to admire the first SUV in the history of the brand in the Quadrifoglio version. A true concentrate of technology, Stelvio Quadrifoglio is equipped with the exclusive 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo petrol engine, in aluminum and inspired by Ferrari’s technologies and technical expertise, which delivers 510 hp of maximum power and develops a torque of 600 Nm. the authentic “Alfa spirit” – full driving emotion, maximum performance and distinctive style – in an s port utility.
