Fiat Fullback Is Latest To Be Dropped

So hot on the heels of the news that FCA has dropped the Fiat/Abarth 124 Spider in the UK, now comes the news that Fiat has dropped its Fullback truck from its commercial range.

Albeit it little more than a rebadged Mitsubishi L200, the Fullback did add some kudos to the brands commercial line up, particular the Cross version which we road tested last year with its roll over bars and added extras making you feel like you could have been Lee Majors in the Fall Guy (ask your parents!).

Speaking at the Commercial Vehicle Show head of Fiat Professional, Richard Chamberlain confirmed the Fullback has been dropped,  “A combination of factors has led to the Fullback no longer being on sale,” he confirmed. “Low sales volumes and the forthcoming Euro 6 diesel emissions legislation meant it was no longer viable for Fiat Professional to offer the Fullback.”

According to reports Fiat has no plans for a new Fullback in the near future, despite Mitsubishi bringing out a new L200 soon. This is a shame as the majority of carmakers have a commercial pick up in their range, the most recent to join the group is Mercedes, obviously the manufacturers feel it is a market work being in.

Whether Fiat returns to the pick up fold remains to be seen, for now it’s commercial range will continue with the with the Ducato, Doblo, Talento and Fiorino.
