Alfa Romeo are very busy right now, with the recent unveiling of the ‘junior Stelvio’ the Tonale, expected to hit showrooms in 2020, a 7 seater Stelvio is also due within the next 12 months, expected to hit American shores before the UK due to the popularity of larger SUV’s. What Alfa fans are really waiting for is the next Sportscar from the Italian car maker, now it seem’s we might have had a glimpse of what is to come.
Expected to arrive within two years and using the Alfa Romeo Giorgio platform that the current Giulia and Stelvio use, the forthcoming GTV will have over 600 horsepower from Alfa Romeo’s twin-turbo V6 as well as some sort of hybrid system, all-wheel drive, and be a 2+2 layout.
Now it seem’ somebody has snapped a photo at an Alfa Romeo event to give us more clues about the range topping V6 GTV ahead of the car’s expected official unveiling in the next 12-18 months (some say 2021 but we think it will be before then).
The rendered image seem’s to show what appears to be a very stylish hybrid coupe, which is not only expected to be as good to drive as the Giulia Quadrifoglio – a mean task in itself – but also faster, prettier, and more exclusive. Sporting a very similar silhouette to the likes of sister companies Maserati GranTurismo, the GTV image seen here also appears to have similar thin LED rear light’s to those on the Stelvio SUV.
The photo apparently taken at an Alfa Romeo presentation doesn’t give us anymore information at the moment, although it is expected the GTV will also spawn a new Spider version and with prices expected to start around 10-15k more than the Giulia Quadrifoglio it will put the new GTV up against some very fierce competition such as the likes of Porsche and BMW 6 in what should be a very interesting head to head battle…and we can’t wait!
