Meet The World’s Smartest Fiat 500e

Meet the Smart Fiat 500

Italian auto manufacturer Fiat introduced their 500 model to the world all the way back in 1957. The Fiat 500 was a rear-engined, four seat, city car that could be had in two-door saloon or two-door station wagon guise. The little Fiat 500 stayed in production for 18 long years from 1957 to 1975 and it quickly became a popular choice for motorists around Europe and other parts of the world, this was primarily because of the 500’s affordable purchase price and cost effective running costs. However, in 1975 the Fiat 500 was discontinued and let’s be honest, Fiat never properly replaced the little 500.

However, in 2006 Fiat announced that they would be bringing back the little 500 and by March, 2007, exactly 50 years after the original Fiat 500 was unveiled, Fiat pulled the covers off of the new Fiat 500. The second generation Fiat 500 is a retro-inspired, modern day take on the original, and it is probably one of the best selling, retro-inspired city cars on sale today alongside BMW’s Mini Cooper. Over the last 12 years the Fiat 500 has become a popular choice for city motorists and we don’t see that changing anytime soon. However, we have some information and a few pictures regarding a rather special Fiat 500, and it is probably the one Fiat 500 that we want the most.

This is it, what you are looking at is a Fiat 500e, and you will notice immediately that this particular 500e is not like any other. This rather cool looking Fiat 500e is the work of Harman and it features a few body modifications and a whole lot of new technology. This little Fiat 500e was displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, United States and we think the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is probably the best place to show off such a unique vehicle which is jam packed with the latest technology.

To start things off, it appears that Harman have managed to remove the roof on this 500e, thus creating a rather good looking two-seater 500e spider in the process. It also appears that Harman have added a new set of wheels, which look really cool and an eye-catching blue and white livery which suits this particular vehicle perfectly. Yes, the few body modifications are impressive, but it is the new technology that has been added by Harman which is even more impressive, and it will have ‘techno geeks’ around the world drooling over this little Fiat.

Speaking of the technology within this Fiat 500e, Harman has managed to create an all new system which differentiates your voice commands. As a result, if you are using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, Harmon’s new system will differentiate your voice commands to ensure that Google Assistant doesn’t end up buying you an unwanted dinner. As a result of this one new system, you could now do your weekly shopping, play the latest music on Samsung Bixby, turn on the lights in your house and even ring the door bell while seated in your car. Impressive? Most definitely!

As Harman are very well known for producing high quality audio systems, they have gone a step further and given this Fiat 500e a new, high quality speaker system. The new speaker system features 3D sound and a new mode known as ‘Virtual Venues’ which will make you feel as if you are in the recording studio with your favourite artist, while your favourite song is being recorded. It gets even better though, because it’s not just the driver and passenger who benefit from Harman’s high quality audio system, because pedestrians are also treated to external sound synthesis so they will be able to hear the totally silent Fiat 500e approaching. This system may not sound all that impressive, but it will ultimately prevent pedestrians from stepping in-front of the vehicle and getting injured.

Harman have also managed to add a rather impressive system that will help with the integration of autonomy. According to Harman, the company has been developing biometric systems that are able to monitor the driver as soon as they sit in the driver’s seat. This impressive system will then scan your face, and if it recognises your face, the system will be able to set and apply all of your personal preferences and settings. This is not all however, because this system is also able to check on and monitor the driver’s eye movement, head position, and pupil diameter to ensure that the driver is alert and whether or not the system needs to intervene, the system will only intervene if the vehicle is not being driven autonomously.

In today’s world automotive systems are getting more and more advanced everyday, and it is believed that in the near future, human beings will not be needed to drive an automobile. This is exciting for some and very sad for people like me, why is it sad? Well, I wouldn’t swap driving a vehicle for anything, not even the smartest automotive systems. However, we shouldn’t get too happy either because these systems will only come into play when those that work out the legislation decide if it’s the right time or not. However, the technology is here, its ready and waiting but are we human beings ready for it?
