Romeo Ferraris Tuned Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV Is Rather Good
Italian auto manufacturer Alfa Romeo are known for producing exciting, affordable and very attractive Italian sportscars. Those of us that aren’t fortunate enough to get our hands on a Ferrari or Lamborghini, usually turn to Alfa Romeo and the Italian manufacturer usually has a model in their range to suit everyone’s wants and needs. Over the years, we have seen Alfa Romeo produce drop-top sportscars, performance oriented coupe’s and sporty sedans/sport wagon’s, but this much loved Italian manufacturer had never produced an off-roader or an SUV. However, that all changed when Alfa Romeo pulled the covers off of their very first SUV, the Stelvio at the Los Angeles Auto Show back in 2016.
Naturally when I heard that Alfa Romeo were developing an SUV, I thought the worst but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a trendy and very good looking front-engined, four-wheel drive, luxurious SUV and if I were in the market for a vehicle in this segment, the Stelvio would be my first choice. Of course, I wouldn’t just opt for any ‘normal’ Stelvio though, because the one I’d go for is the high performance, fire breathing Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) version and who could blame me?
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio QuadrifoglRo Verde (QV) is the range topping model in the Stelvio line-up and it comes standard with a Ferrari derived 2.9 litre, twin-turbocharged V6 engine which has an overall power output of 505 hp (375 kW) and 600 Nm of torque. As a result of it’s fire breathing V6 engine, the StelvioQuadrifoglio Verde (QV) can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and it will keep on accelerating until it reaches an impressive top speed of 283 km/h (176 mph). In fact, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde is so good it claimed the title of ‘Worlds Fastest Production SUV’ when it lapped the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife in a very impressive time of 7 minutes, 51.7 seconds.
So then, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) is a superb SUV but I am certain that after a few months of ownership the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s 505 hp will get a little stale. Luckily tuning company Romeo Ferraris are offering Stelvio QV owners a new tuning kit that will prevent this from happening. In order to show off their new tuning kit, Romeo Ferraris have built this rather unique Alfa Romeo StelvioQuadrifoglio Verde (QV) and we at Enzari think it is rather interesting. The most noticeable upgrade to the exterior of this particular Stelvio QV however is the eye-catching colour changing wrap. Why is this wrap so interesting? Well, depending on the lighting conditions, the colour of the wrap can change from various shades of dark green to bronze and even to purple.
The eye-catching wrap is not the only exterior upgrade that Romeo Ferraris have added to this Stelvio QV, to further enhance the exterior Romeo Ferraris have also added a white-tinted carbon fiber radiator grille surround, as well as white-tinted carbon fiber door handles and mirror caps. That’s not all, to finish off the exterior look of this unique Stelvio QuadrifoglioVerde (QV), Romeo Ferraris have given it a new set of 20-inch OZ Racing alloy wheels, which feature a 10-spoke design and carbon fiber center caps and a set of wheel spacers which widen the front track by 20 mm and the rear track by 25 mm.
Under the hood, this Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde’s 2.9 litre, twin-turbocharged Ferrari derived V6 engine has also received some attention. Tuner Romeo Ferraris have added a few new upgrades to the engine, unfortunately at the time of writing this article Romeo Ferraris had not specified what upgrades had been added. However, as a direct result of the added upgrades, the engine’s overall power output has been increased from 505 hp(375 kW) to 548 hp (409 kW) and the torque figures have been increased too, from 600 Nm of torque to a seriously impressive 660 Nm of torque. The extra power means more speed, as a result the top speed of this Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) has been increased from 283 km/h (176 mph) to 290 km/h (180 mph).
Elsewhere, tuner Romeo Ferraris has also given this StelvioQuadrifoglio Verde (QV) a new set of springs, which lower the vehicle’s overall ride height. Romeo Ferraris has also given this Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) a new Ragazzon high-performance exhaust system, which features electronically adjustable valves which can be used to tweak the sound of the exhaust pipes. As far as I can gather, all of the modifications mentioned in article are a part of a single tuning kit offered by Romeo Ferraris for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde (QV). Unfortunately, at the time of writing this article no pricing information had been provided to us by Romeo Ferraris.
Romeo Ferraris don’t just offer tuning kits for the range topping Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV, the firm also offers tuning kits for the petrol powered Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.0 litre turbo as well as the diesel powered Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.0 litre and 2.2 litre models. As a result, all of these models will get a huge boost in power but Romeo Ferraris have not mentioned whether or not lower range Stelvio models will receive any exterior, interior or suspension upgrades like the range topping Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) model.
