Mick Schumacher set to snub Mercedes for Ferrari
According to reports in italy Scuderia Ferrari is set to see the return of the Schumacher name. Mick is set to follow the likes of Charles LeClerc and sign a deal with Ferrari to join their junior driver programme, having turned down a similar approach from Mercedes.
Mick Schumacher was linked with a race seat at Toro Rosso earlier in the F3 season, in a season which saw him crowned champion. However the young driver is set to stick with Prema Powerteam taking the step up to Formula 2 in 2019.
Team Prema has links with both Ferrari and Mercedes, whilst current Formula 1 drivers Charles LeClerc and Antonio Giovinazzi have all come through Prema on their way to the top level of Motorsport in Formula 1.
Alrhough not officially confirmed yet, Maurizio Arrivabene was quoted recently in September when asked about Mick Schumacher joining Ferrari: “With a name like this, that wrote historical pages of Ferrari history, the door of Maranello is always open.”
