Looking more like a jacked up GTC4 Lusso, Ferrari’s forthcoming SUV the Purosangue (from Italian for ‘thoroughbred’) has been spied on test. The bespoke Ferrari was spotted making it’s way around the Maranello factory so very little more information is really known. Expected to have a V6 hybrid powertrain as part of the line up, the SUV will also offer both 8 and 12 cylinder options.
The Purosangue will be built on a new Mid-Engine Architecture. The V6 engine will be mounted in the front part within the wheelbase, and at the rear there is a gearbox and an electric motor. The all-wheel-drive Ferrari SUV will have a new suspension with adjustable ground clearance.
Unlike it’s rival from Lamborghini, Ferrari promises the new vehicle will be unusual and memorable, different from others. Meaning the Purosangue may not look as SUV as the raging bull, indeed it is expected to taken many styling cues from the GTC4 and 812 Superfast, keeping it’s sporty supercar looks very much at the forefront of the design. We expect a dynamic coupe-like body although Ferrari has confirmed the car will get four doors, whether these are ‘hidden’ rear doors in style or not remains to be seen.
As the project gets further into development we can certainly expect to see more photos of the SUV under test.
