Today will see a strategy meeting for Ferrari which will see CEO Louis Camilleri present a special edition supercar at the Italian car makers capital market day, an important day for the new CEO which will form an integral part of Camilleri’s five-year strategy plan.
The project, given the code name “Icona” , was hinted at to customers last month in an invitation, the new project will broaden Ferrari’s offering of limited-edition supercars, a range aimed at boosting profit margins, said the people, who asked not to be named because details about the car are not yet public.
Naturally as you would expect, no spokesman for Ferrari was available to comment ahead of todays capital markets day scheduled to get underway at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello, Italy. The exciting news for Ferrari fans is the new supercar could be revealed as early as Monday.
Camilleri’s strategy for the automaker will be closely watched by investors, especially whether he will stick with a goal of doubling profit to 2 billion euros by 2022, a plan put forward by his predecessor, Sergio Marchionne.
Special edition models, which typically earn higher margins, could help Camilleri to boost profit without losing the exclusivity of the brand. Ferrari customers typically have to wait more than a year to get delivery of a new car. Limited editions, like the LaFerrari Aperta convertible, are often highly-sought and go to the company’s most loyal customers.
