Kimi Raikkonen Set To Extend Scuderia Ferrari Contract

Reports over the weekend seem to suggest Kimi Raikkonen is set to agree an extension to his existing contract for a further two years, with option that the Finish driver can change the contract after the end of the 2019 season; if he pleases.

Following the recent death of Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne, it seems Ferrari would prefer to keep some stability in it’s driver line up, rather than bring in driver Charles LeClerc who is currently impressing with the Alfa Romeo Sauber Team in his maiden Formula 1 season.

The extension would see Kimi continue his drive alongside championship challenger Sebastian Vettel, a partnership that has so far shown the drivers work well together with mutual respect in what can be a stressful situation trying to win the championship for the Italian racing team.

An announcement is expected at the Belgian Grand Prix, Spa-Francorchamps, although the team may decide to delay until the following race at Monza in Italy.
