A few months ago FCA announced plans as part of it’s 5 year plan that Alfa Romeo will be launching a new 8C model in the next few years, now it seem’s details of its range topping car have been revealed.
The new 8C will be a mid-engine supercar with a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and a hybrid powertrain consisting of a twin-turbocharged engine for the rear axle and an electric drive system for the front. Power will come from the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 found in Alfa Romeo’s Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, with output up to about 600 horsepower, with the additional electric motor at the front axle adding another 200 horses, bringing total output of the powertrain to around 800 hp.
Alfa’s flagship model is expected to hit a sub-three second 0-62mph sprint with a special E-boost system to achieve those figures. The 8C is also rumoured to receive four wheel drive benefiting from better traction with technical systems such as torque vectoring and advanced traction control.
However o e catch might be that the new 8C will be a limited production run, limited to 1000 cars so if you fancy one to add to your collection it might be worth contacting the Italian carmaker sooner rather than later with a deposit.
