French Grand Prix – Qualifying Recap

After the final free practice session ahead of Sunday’s French Grand Prix had been pretty much wiped out by rain, the clouds parted just enough to let the sun shine through for qualifying, but with the session red flagged with seven minutes remaining, because of Romain Grosjean’s crash it was Mercedes AMG driver Lewis Hamilton taking pole position for the race at the Paul Ricard circuit. His fast lap of 1:30.029 was .118 of a second better than runner-up and teammate, Valtteri Bottas. It was Hamilton’s milestone 75th career Formula One pole and his third of the season.
