It’s the engine the Levante has been crying out for since Maserati launched it’s very first SUV a couple of years ago, the V8 530bhp engine from the Quattroporte, itself developed by Ferrari, sending this Trident head on into Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Range Rover SVR8 territory, now it seem’s this performance Levante has been caught on test.
Since Maserati launched the Levante a whole host of performance SUV’s have arrived on the market, not least from sister company Alfa Romeo with it’s brilliant Stelvio but also the ‘Love it or Hate it’ Lambiorghini Urus, and Maserati isn’t about to sit back and let the competition steal all the sales.
The front end is redesigned in the GTS and the ride will have a revised roof spoiler. The alloy wheels are updated as are the brakes. The GTS is also expected to be lower than the normal Levante for better handling.
A Levante GTS will be quick make no mistake, currently the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quattroporte holds the Nurburgring record for an SUV but we are betting this new GTS might just steal the crown.
Expect to see the new performance Levante GTS to be unveiled at next months Geneva Motor Show.
