Ares plans modern Ferrari 412

Modena-based coachbuilder Ares this week opened their new design studio in a former Fiat and Alfa Romeo dealership, and their first project under the new roof could be very interesting. Ares, founded by former Lotus CEO Dany Bahar and Dubai-based businessman Waleed Al Ghafari, have recently been in the news for their Lamborghin Huracan based ‘Project Panther’, a tribute almost but undoubtedly inspired by the Italian 70’s Classic, the DeTomaso Pantera.

Now the team are turning their attention to a Ferrari based Supercar, codenamed ‘Project Pony’, having been contacted by a customer for the new car, it will see the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso being used as the donor car, for what looks like a modern interpretation of the 80’s Ferrari 365/400i/412, the customer must have pretty deep pockets, as the finished Supercar is expected to cost around £600k in total.

Looking at the sketch for the ‘Project Pony’, this special car will draw heavily from the 400/412’s exterior, with the GTC4Lusso being retained for it’s running gear, a new carbon fibre body will be created, paying homage to the angular design of the original 400 series, complete with angular headlights, slightly boxy design and even the vents in the bonnet. Power will come from the prancing horses V12, keeping the 4wd system, ensuring the 680 horses have no problem putting the power down.
