The Cars:

Fiat 500 special series to mark the 60th anniversary

2017 will go down in history as a memorable year in what is already the unique story of Fiat 500: the year of its 60th birthday, celebrated with many initiatives, each one different from the others, but all easily related to the iconic personality of the vehicle.

Notably, a Fiat 500 has been introduced as part of the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York, and the 500 has also starred in Fiat’s first short movie, interpreted by Oscar®-winning actor Adrien Brody, “See you in the future”. The tribute video has racked up a total of approximately 19 million views online, winning the public over with the 500 heritage and the 500 Anniversario, the stars of the campaign, along with its Oscar®-winning leading man.

The “500 Forever Young Tour”, the travelling event that touched down in some of the most beautiful squares in Europe met with nothing but heartfelt, warm displays of affection for the Fiat icon, with Fiat 500 enthusiasts and collectors from today and yesteryear taking part. Additionally, a new stamp and a coin were also introduced to pay tribute to the Fiat 500. These collectors pieces were also suitable for daily use, as well as being a must-have for coin collectors, Fiat 500 enthusiasts and anyone else who might want to keep an authentic Italian masterpiece in their pocket all day long.

But the 500 never fails to forget that it is a car. It is one of the most emblematic cars around, with its unmistakeable silhouette, and its global success stems from its unique ability to be both popular and exclusive at the same time.

Exciting special editions have been created to celebrate the occasion: the Fiat 500 Anniversario, with the exclusive Riviera Green and Sicilia Orange livery, which starred in the tribute video, and the numbered and limited edition 500 dedicated to the 60th anniversary, which the public can admire at the Dubai Motor Show. Revealed at the last International Motor Show in Geneva, this exclusive car pays tribute to the original 500 by having a contemporary twist on some of the style details that made the original so famous, such as the vinyl dashboard, the vintage logo on the front, in the middle of the chrome spoiler and on the boot door and steering wheel, as well as the chrome finish on the bonnet.

Exclusively available as a convertible, the Fiat 500 special 60th anniversary series presents brand new dual-colour paintwork, named Dolcevita: Three-layer White for the body of the car and pastel Ivory for the bonnet and pillars, crowned by a grey hood and decorated with a tricolour trim in burgundy, white and grey. The style of this special series is enhanced by its many cool aesthetic details, such as chrome rear mirror caps, special 16″ lightweight alloy wheel rims and a dedicated logo: a blend of 500 and 60, which becomes a true brand within a brand, as the red “6” and “0” are contained in the last two figures of the 500 logo. This exclusive badge adorns the pillar and also appears on the chrome sill and the numbered limited edition nameplate.

The special edition’s interior also presents retro details, such as the tubular elements of the seats in ivory leather with contrasting burgundy trim, which match the central part of the dashboard, and the bespoke dual-colour car mats. But the tribute to the past is only skin deep: the 60th anniversary special series offering the very best when it comes to today’s technology and on-board comfort. Standard features include a leather gear knob and steering wheel with built-in commands, 7″ Radio UconnectTM HD NAV with touchscreen, Bluetooth, satellite navigation and USB and AUX IN ports; 7″ TFT, automatic climate control, fog lights and rear parking sensors. The vehicle on display runs on the 1.4 MultiAir 100 HP petrol engine, available with six-speed automatic transmission.

Fiat 500X S-Design

Another star of the stage during the exhibition was the 500X, the Fiat crossover made in Italy and sold in over 40 countries worldwide. In Dubai, the public will be able to admire the Fiat 500X S-Design – a special edition model that will appeal to motorists who want a stylish, contemporary and dynamic vehicle.

Fiat 500X, in the S-Design trim, is a winning combination of urban sportiness and style, which is designed to represent and appeal to a young, metropolitan public.

On the outside, the 500X S-Design stands out with its one-of-a-kind Alpi green matte livery – available on demand – and the exclusive Myron burnished finish on its side mouldings, door handles, front whisker, rear light cluster bezels, boot handle and mirror caps. The rear windows are also tinted and the Cross Look version comes with black roof rack bars as standard equipment. The copper coloured hue of the “Xs” which feature on the side mouldings also instantly stand out.

 Alfa Romeo:

Stelvio Quadrifoglio

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s Racing Red livery highlights its stylish lines – a perfect blend of speed, beauty and heritage and the finest expression of Italian design, interpreted with Alfa Romeo’s unique flair.
The brand’s first SUV has a very strong, distinctive look and this is even more evident with Stelvio Quadrifoglio, with design features that create an even sportier style and cater to the car’s specific technical features. This is clearly reflected, for example, in the bonnet with structural vents that allow air to pass from the inside to the outside of the engine compartment, the intercooler air vents at the side, the sporty side skirts and the massive wheel arches (all body-coloured), not to mention the four hot exhaust tips without trim, and the Kamm tail. Necessary beauty, designed specifically to accommodate the unique characteristics of the fastest SUV in its class.

Its all-aluminium 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engine delivers 510 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, achieving a top speed of 283 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. It’s no surprise, therefore, that Stelvio Quadrifoglio recently set a new record for its class on the iconic Nürburgring: 7 minutes 51.7 seconds.
Its performance comes from an engine inspired by Ferrari technology and expertise, combined for the first time with the innovative Q4 all-wheel drive system, and outstanding technical solutions including the AlfaTM Active Torque Vectoring differential, AlfaTM Chassis Domain Control (CDC), AlfaTM Active Suspension and Alfa DNATM Pro system with “Race” mode.

In terms of design, the side view is all about compact toughness and muscular sensuality, while the front is a perfect mix of emphatic proportions and surface finishes that strongly convey aggression and power. Last but not least, the tapered rear end is eye-catchingly sporty, the tone set by the lower section that features four hot exhaust tips, without trim, and above all the Kamm tail, a unique, unmistakable stylish touch and a tribute to Alfa Romeo tradition.

Stelvio Super

Visitors will also be able to admire an Alfa Romeo Stelvio in Super trim level with Misano Blue paintwork. Underneath the bonnet is a 280 horsepower, 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with eight-speed automatic transmission and Q4 all-wheel drive system. The car has a sporty interior, with electric powered “high-containment” leather seats and aluminium inserts, and its exterior is enhanced by exclusive glossy dark miron coloured Mopar accessories – the front grille “V”, mirror caps, rear skid plate and 20″ alloy wheels.

Giulia Quadrifoglio

Fitted with the powerful 510 horsepower V6 2.9-litre bi-turbo petrol engine and 8-speed automatic transmission, Giulia Quadrifoglio guarantees thrilling performance: a top speed of 307 km/h, 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 3.9 seconds and maximum torque of 600 Nm. Excellent performance, while still protecting the environment: Giulia Quadrifoglio is also best in class where emissions are concerned, with 189 g/km of CO2. Like Stelvio Super, the Giulia Quadrifoglio, with Racing Red tri-coat paintwork, features carbon fibre accessories including the “V” trim on the radiator grille, the door mirror caps, the illuminated kick plate and the special gear knob insert, all chosen from the wide range of accessories available from Mopar.

4C Coupé

Also starring on the stand is the captivating Alfa Romeo 4C, displayed in Coupé version in Misano Blue, a modern icon of the brand that represents the sporty essence of Alfa Romeo DNA – outstanding performance and technological excellence combine for the greatest driving pleasure and breath-taking style. The car is fitted with a direct injection 1,742 cc turbocharged engine with aluminium block, intercooler and dual continuous variation valve timing, ensuring performance worthy of a compact supercar – a top speed of 258 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, 1.1 g of lateral acceleration and 1.25 g of maximum deceleration when braking. This car’s sporty spirit is also evident from the choice of ultra-light materials used: carbon fibre for the shell, aluminium for the front and rear subframes and SMC (sheet moulding compound) for the bodywork.

Giulietta Veloce

The Alfa Romeo line-up at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show is completed by the Giulietta Veloce, which is powered by a 240 horsepower, 1,750cc turbo petrol engine with TCT automatic transmission. This high-performance version of the Gulietta, with metallic Misano Blue paintwork, is distinguished on the outside by sporty new bumpers with red Alfa inserts, glossy anthracite finish on the handles and fog light surrounds, electric sun roof with large glass section, oversize Brembo braking system with red calipers, burnished finish 5-spoke 18″ alloy wheels and larger-sized twin exhaust tips.

Its highly sporty personality is also reflected on the interior, with sporty leather and Alcantara seats with integral head restraints, contrasting red seams and sporty cut leather steering-wheel. The Giulietta Veloce on display also features exclusive Mopar accessories, including carbon fibre mirror caps and spoiler, specific side skirts with red Alfa inserts, larger exhaust tips and LED courtesy lights on the front doors that project the Alfa Romeo logo.
