In its first racing season the Abarth 124 rally conquered two national titles in the GT category. After Fabrizio Andolfi Jr’s success in Italy, the Abarth 124 rally of SMC Junior motorsport’s team, driven by Alvaro Muniz and Antonio Solorzano, got the GT trophy in the Spanish Rally Asfalto Championship.
In the Madrid’s rally, the last seasonal race, the Spanish team confirmed the great competition performed by the Abarth 124 rally, with an 8th place in the general rank and a second place in the two driving-wheels rank. The third best time has been very important in the last timed stage, on the Jarama circuit, with many difficult latches, in which the Abarth 124 spider overcame lots of cars in the category before the four driving-wheels.
The outcome of the Spanish team is positive: they participated in ten races (Cordoba, Gran Canaria; Tenerife, Ourense, Ferrol, Oviedo Llanes, Santander, Alicante and Madrid) in which the Abarth 124 got the public excited, and bringing Abarth back in the rally circus.
