To say Alfa Romeo is on a bit of a roll at the moment is stating the obvious, since the launch of the brilliant Giulia in 2016, the type of saloon the brand has been crying out for, Alfa has recently followed that up with the new Stelvio, it’s very first SUV. The Stelvio has received good praise both in the press and buyers with the overall consensus being ‘finally an SUV you enjoy driving’.
Both the Giulia and Stelvio sit on Alfa’s ‘Giorgio’ platform and it seems the next model to share it will be a forthcoming Coupe, due in 2018. Rumours have persisted that the Italian carmaker would not launch a Coupe until the 4C had ceased to be in 2020 but with enquiries stateside and BMW’s success with the 4 series Coupe as well as Audi’s A5, if would appear the Coupe is on its way.
We expect Alfa Romeo will release details of it’s model restructure timetable in the coming months, as both a larger saloon – spiritual successor to the 166 – and compact SUV, a rival to Audi’s Q3, are also scheduled to arrive by 2020.
