Lamborghini may be about to officially unveil the new SUV, the Urus in the coming months but it seems the Italian Supercar maker has other plans for a 4×4. Sources close to the Italian brand have anonymously revealed the Huracán is about to spawn an all-terrain supercar named the Lamborghini Safari.
Rumoured to be getting the Huracán‘s 10-cylinder engine and its all-wheel drive system, the Safari will have four-wheel steering to make it even more nimble to drive. As if to confirm its off road credentials the new 4×4 will also have bigger wheel arches to make room for off-road tires and protective plastic cladding. Standard on the Safari will also be a height-adjustable suspension system which will help the model on the rough stuff. The new off roader is expected to be available as a coupe and as a roadster.
A new Lamborghini is certainly worth getting excited about but it seems a possible new 4×4 isn’t all that is planned. Rumours seem to indicate that control of Lamborghini is to shift to Porsche, rather than its current benefactor Audi, this would allow the team at Lamborghini more freedom in creating future models. Indeed one such car would be the Aventador, pencilled in for 2020, the new model promises to be a ground-up redesign not based on anything else. Power should come from a naturally-aspirated 7.0-liter V-12 making about 800 horsepower at the wheels. It may even see the introduction of electric front-wheel drive adding an extra 320 horsepower as an option on the car supposedly code-named LB634/635.
