Alfa Romeo 4C gets Formula 3000 V8

Now before you start making a mad dash down to your local Alfa Romeo dealership, I’m afraid you won’t find this V8 powered 4C on display in the showroom.

The Alfa Romeo 4C is one of the best two seater sports cars you can buy, more involving than a Porsche Boxster, better looking than anything Audi can come up,  a car that rewards the driver but can also remind you that maybe your not quite as good as Sebastian Vettel if you get it wrong, some have hailed the little Alfa as like a supercar from the 80’s, not a bad compliment for something with a 1.8 petrol engine.

However this particular 4C is a little different from the norm’ , YouTube channel 19Bozzy92 has uploaded a video of a 4C hillclimb car that has been modified to accommodate the 3.0-liter Zytek V-8 from a Formula 3000 car. For those unaware, Formula 3000 is a now-defunct open wheel single seater class that was situated between Formula 3 and Formula 1. According to 19Bozzy92, the engine is making 450 horsepower, and the entire car weighs a mere 700 kilograms, or approximately 1,540 pounds. This car is still well under a ton even with a driver and full load of fuel, giving it a power-to-weight ratio approaching that of hypercars.

It’s a pretty cool sight let alone the sound, that this car won’t make it to your local Alfa dealer is probably not a bad thing, we can’t see it going down well with the neighbours at 8am on a Sunday morning…
