Homemade Lancia Prototype Is Ugly Track Day Toy

Cars like the KTM X-Bow, Ariel Atom and BAC Mono aim to combine a racecar-like track day toy with a road-legal car. It appears the creator of this Lancia track day prototype racer had the same virtues in mind when building his slightly ugly creation – but we’re willing to bet he did it for a whole lot less than those factory-built creations cost.

We’re not sure what his creation is based on, but it has the twin-charged heart of a Lancia Delta S4. It’s also possible the engine is also a 2.0-liter turbocharged Integrale engine with a Volumex supercharger strapped on, which would likely offer further cost savings. The Martini livery and well-placed headlights and taillights are nice touches, but we think they could’ve done without the modern day Lancia Delta grille.

It might be ugly, but this homemade racer is fast. It’s got a claimed 500+ horsepower and also looks fast in the on-track shots in the embedded above, so be sure to give it watch.
