Pogea Racing Abarth packs 405bhp

It’s 405bhp, 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds, only 5 will be built and the car is painted in gray paint from the Lamborghini Reventon.

The car in question is probably the maddest Abarth we’ve come across, as a standard car the Abarth is no slouch but what German car tuner Pogea Racing has done is take the pocket rocket and created a vehicle the company calls the Ares, an Abarth that can hit 179mph!

Pogea has done quite a lot of work creating the Ares, fitting the 1.4-litre turbo four with new pistons, turbocharger, connecting rods, exhaust valves, crankshaft, camshaft and oil cooler.

“In order to realize this project, hardly a screw remained untouched over the 4 years of development,” company founder Eduard Pogea said in the Ares’ announcement.

We can see what he means, looking more like a touring car, the Ares has carbon fibre parts that replace the bumpers, fenders, hood, mirror caps, and roof spoiler. After the extensive modifications, the hot hatch is 48 millimetres wider than stock. The tuner also fits six-piston brake calipers and a KW Clubsport suspension.

It’s not just the mechanical aspects of this car either, with leather-upholstered sport seats finished in vibrant red trim and a Pioneer infotainment system with Apple CarPlay support replacing the stock unit, it’s a pretty aggressive overall package.

Expected to cost in excess of £40k it’s not cheap but then your unlikely to come across another one at your local Abarth meet.
