Alfa Romeo is famous for its wonderful-sounding V6 engines, however unless you opt for the high-performance Giulia Quadrifoglio, you can’t get a V6 engine in any modern-day Alfa. That’s a bit of a shame, because the brand’s naturally-aspirated V6 engines played a huge role in Alfa capturing the hearts of enthusiasts all over the globe.
For a reminder of just how great Alfa’s V6 engines sounded, you don’t need to look any further than the 155 DTM TI. The touring car, which featured a 490 horsepower 2.5-liter V6 with a redline of 12,000 RPM mated to an all-wheel drive system, took the 1993 DTM championship at the hands Nicola Larini and claimed a total of 38 DTM wins between 1993 and 1996. You’d be hard pressed to find a better sounding touring car and in its Martini livery, it’s good looking as well.
Youtube’s NM225 recently filmed a 155 DTM TI going all-out at a hillclimb event in Italy. It’s far from the first video we’ve seen of the 155 DTM TI and its high-revving V6 terrorizing a quaint European hillside, but it just might be the best.
