Maserati reaches out to social media

Maserati USA is inviting fans of its Facebook page to name a new special-edition Ghibli that is to debut sometime later this year.

In a video uploaded to the Facebook page, Maserati invited its followers submit a name for the “edgier and darker than ever,” Ghibli. The video teases the limited-run saloon car’s exhaust note and aspects of its styling but leaves the majority of the car to the imagination.

It’s hard to name a car you don’t know much about, so Maserati dropped a few hints as to what this new Ghibli is all about. In addition to describing it as “edgier and darker than ever,” it also told fans to help brand the “darker side of Maserati.”

Hoping to convey the edginess of the limited-edition model, Maserati is sharing dark and mysterious campaign content regarding its upcoming high-gloss black Ghibli edition. The Italian carmaker is employing fans to come up with a name that embodies the new glossy black edition and submit it through social.

The contest is open until February 24th through its Facebook page.
